Frances Carhart Finan values education and is well-prepared to help families through the college admissions process. She earned a BA in English from Wellesley College in 1992 and a Masters in Education from Harvard in 1995. She is a member of the Pacific Northwest Association of College Admissions Counselors (PNACAC) and Higher Education Consultants' Association (HECA.) She makes visiting college campuses a priority and collaborates with local consultants to keep current on admission trends. Frances also serves as an alumna interviewer for Wellesley College.

Frances worked as a Product Manager for Microsoft and taught English and writing skills to students in the Kent and Issaquah districts before starting her consulting career. She was recognized as the “Outstanding New Teacher” in the Kent Public Schools in 1996 because of her energy, compassion and success working with students at all levels. She has continued her work with students as a VIBES college counseling volunteer at Interlake High school.

Frances Carhart Finan helps students reveal their best attributes throughout their application. With over 3500 colleges, hundreds of college websites and increasing competition to schools, applying to college is stressful. Frances navigates parents and students through an organized and individualized college plan that reduces stress and allows clients to feel confident about their submitted application. The first step in this process is Frances creating a well-researched list of appropriate colleges for each client.

In addition to creating a personalized college list, Frances provides additional services to help students put their best foot forward. She offers a variety of brainstorming methods to help students reveal their own voice in the college essay. She helps students to craft a resume that reflects their unique talents and abilities. And, she prepares students to project their best image in the college interview. Frances can also assist with summer internship activities, standardized tests scheduling (SAT, SAT II, ACT) and college visit plans.
